the West Mifflin public school system, and The Melody Shop,as well as performing with The
Pittsburgh CLO, pittsburgh public Theater, Point park college, Shadyside Academy and, most
recently, Sewickley
Academy's Performing ArtsCamp, where she was pianist and musical director of"Brigadoon"and
other
productions.Gojkovich has worked with JoeNegri, Fred Rogers and th entire Neighborhood of Make
Believe cast and performs in bands as pianist, vocalist and flutist.Openings to new Students with
this virtuoso will  be available in 1 hour increments.

Smokin Joe studied at  the Musicians Institute of Hollywood
and has been performing all over the USA in Jazz festivals. His achievements are mostly in the
Blues World with featured songs  on many radio stations nationwide. He still finds time to teach at
the Melody Shop and Pittsburgh North going on 14 years.

MAUREEN CONLON GUTIERREZ: M.ED. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Currently On World Tour. Teaching with special arrangements. Lessons for 1 hour increments. Born
and raised in the heart of Mexico, Maureen has embraced many styles and genres from classical
and tango to rock and light jazz. She is a member of the tango ensemble in Pittsburgh, PA,
Tangueros de Ley, and violinist for the cross-genre ensemble Forest of the Americas in Mexico. Her
improvisational skills have led to recordings with Vineyard Music on their Spanish CD and with the
acclaimed Latin rock band ROJO.
As a solo concert violinist, Conlon has performed to much acclaim on many stages throughout Latin
America, Europe, and the U.S. Many of her performances have been aired live on radio and
television including a special for the Telemundo channel in 2003. She has appeared as soloist with
various orchestras and chamber ensembles through Mexico and the U.S. including the renowned
Orquesta del Estado de Mexico (OSEM) under the direction of Enrique Batiz.
Due to her passion for chamber music she co-founded the Trio Nova Mundi in 2001 with whom she
has performed throughout various concert venues in Latin American and the U.S. including
appearances as soloists with the Atlanta Virtuos i orchestra in Atlanta, GA. While at Rice University
they were awarded the Ralph A. Anderson music scholarship award.
Maureen has garnered many first prizes and placed at many competitions nationally and
internationally including a first place at the National Violin Competition “Hermilo Novelo” in Mexico
and the “Hermilo Novelo” award at the International Henryk Szeryng Violin Co mpetition. While
studying at Penn State University she also won the Concerto Competition as well as first place at
the Graduate Exhibition in 2005 and 2006. In 2005 she was a semi-finalist at the pre stigious Sphinx
Competition.
Conlon was also a recipient of the CONACULTA scholarship for the performing arts from 2006-2007
allowing her to pursue further studies in the U.S. As an avid orchestral musician she is member of
the Erie Philharmonic and has been a member of the Sphinx Symphony, Sphinx Chamber Orchestra,
Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra, Penns Woods Orchestra and Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra.
She has also played with the Civic Orchestra in Chicago, Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, Wheeling
Symphony, Virginia Symphony, and Pittsburgh Symphony among others.
Completed Performance Residency at Carnegie-Mellon University studying with the former
Pittsburgh Symphony concertmaster, Andres Cardenes.
She teaches many violin students and loves sharing all she has been imparted along the way.
Maureen continues to actively perform as soloist and with the Trio Nova Mundi. She lives in
Pittsburgh, PA with husband, Michael Dorosh.

Duquesne University Graduate Student, Currently performing with The Lydia Bain
Quartet at Little E's. Currently accepting Jazz and classical students in violin performance. Special
arrangement lessons for hour increments.

NEIL (Cornelious)CARR
Guitarist, Vocalist, Guitar and Stringed-Fretted Instrument Instructor at The Melody Shop for 5 years.  
Neil is also a Management Consultant and Project Director of the WPCC/Melody Shop. Beginning in
the late 70’s, Neil played in several local Pittsburgh and regional performing /recording musical
groups. In the 80’s he was a founding member of the rock band Scene 14 (CBS/Chroma recording
artists).  Post Scene 14, Neil spent several years as a co-owner and staff writer with Blockhouse
Recording Studios - primarily focusing on jingle writing and production for several local, regional
and national advertising agencies.  During the Blockhouse years Neil was the music composition
and recording director for the GMAC “Jimmy” and Pontiac Trans Am add campaigns. Ending an
extended layoff from live musical performance, he joined the band Rokkheart and CMC Acoustic  
Trio in 2007. In the real, non-musical world, Neil is an IT Infrastructure Project Manager for a large,
multi-national financial services company.

ELLIOTT RATLIFF-  M.ED.(BRASS-WOODWINDS-STRINGS)
(classical/jazz trombonist)
is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania graduating from
Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree and New Jersey City University with
a Master's degree in music education and performance. In his time at Edinboro, he was the
Trombone instructor for the Edinboro University Community Music School and a member of the
Edinboro University Highland Ambassadors. In New Jersey, he was a member of the New Jersey
Music Educators Association and was the Principal Trombone of the Hudson County
Intergenerational Community Band. Mr Ratliff is a member of the Pittsburgh Musician's Union,
the Pittsburgh Jazz Society, and a delegate for the American Federation of Musicians. He is
also a member of the Music Educators National Conference, the Pennsylvaina Music Educators
Association, and the International Trombones Association. Mr. Ratliff  has performed at the Rivers
Casino with the Harold Betters Quartet and the Trombone Forum Big Band and currently performs
with the North Suburban Symphonic Band and a small jazz septet called Spectrum 2.


Louise Surman Carr-)B.S. ABOC   Director,  Recording
Engineer )B.S. ABOC  (Advanced Vocal Coach, Music Producer, Business Manager)  around the
early 80’s Louise met the songwriting team of Carr-Manns.  They first gained local recognition on the
WDVE Rocks album, Vol. II. . All of them then pursued a successful recording and live performance
career with EROS.then Changing names, Scene 14, jointly owned a recording studio and released
and produced many other artists, and commercials. Some local and national recognition was on the
first video show   called Night Traks.  the partners in the band Eros, Scene 14 was nationally
recognized for their work on “The Voice of Melody” recording. ProSound magazine also featured an
article on this pioneering Pittsburgh band.  These local 45’s aided in the purchase of voice
machines for Muscular Dystrophy victims who couldn’t speak. With the new technology of these
voice machines children in the pa. area were able to finally communicate with the world.
They also recorded local and national commercial work and released their records thru Chroma
records and Precision Management. They opened for several national acts throughout the 80’s and
early 90’s while playing the club and college venue   Currently performing with ROKKheart Acoustic
and  managing director Western Pa. Culture Center, The Melody ShopTeachers  and CarrTunes
management. Currently teaching CCD at St. Therese of Liseaux.

Set up an appointment for an in depth 15 minute
consultation/lesson and voice, instrument evaluation/
assessment. At this time you will register and commit to a
day/time for your personal time at The Melody Shop.If teacher
approves and extends to full lesson complete pricing will
occur.
SESSION PACKAGES:
•        30-minute sessions for speaking, accent reduction,
vocal coaching or lessons for all ages.Starting at $20.00/30
Minutes
•        30,45, 60, (90 or 2 hour sessions by special
arrangements) available for singing lessons, speaking
lessons,vocal coaching and recording. Prices according to
individual instructors
•        60-minute minimum sessions available for songwriters
working on harmony, recording studio coaching and
production work. Starting at $50.00 per hour.
•        Beginner and Advanced group lessons for singing,
guitar, songwriting and computer techniques. By appointment
only. Starting at $10.00 per 30 minute sessions, as
registration allows. Fall, Spring and Summer sessions
available.
Discount packages are also available for large groups.
$10.00 registration fee for all new students.

times arranged with the instructor and management.  
Please arrange your appointment. We want to make
your lessons as convenient as possible with your
schedule.

$20.00 /$22.00 or $24.00 per ½ hour session.
(All priced
according to teacher)
Adults and Intermediate $22.00- 25+ per 1/2 hour (as
per teachers) recommendation.
$10.00 one time *registration fee/clerical  
College Prep/Advanced $50.00 per hour. Other Hour
classes and Advanced prices according to
management and teachers fees.*registration fee and
lesson fees due immediately at registration time.
No refunds.
We reserve the right to substitute qualified teachers.
We reserved the right to reschedule the student.
ROCKSchool students are chosen by instructors.
Students and guardians must sign liability release.
You must call 24 hours ahead to cancel or
reschedule a lesson (the night before) or you will be
charged for that time slot. This also applies for
scheduled make up lessons. Makeups will not
always be scheduled for lost days. Two sick
days/call offs are permitted before time slot is lost
within 45 days. Funds will be allocated to
teacher/substitute in accordance of these rules.
Please understand this is mandatory for all students.

Nick has been playing the drums for
four decades.Besides playing for Pure Gold, Nick has also been the house drummer on all of
the "My Music" and "American Soundtrack" series concerts, broadcast nationally on PBS
television, playing for Patti Labelle, Lou Rawls, Franke Valli and hundreds more musical
artists.
